The NYS Woodsmen’s Field Days, held August 17-19 at the Boonville Fairgrounds, was another successful event, drawing thousands to Boonville once again. The attendance at this year’s Field Days was 40,982, a new three-day record for the forestry event. Last year’s attendance total was 34,415 for the three-day event
Phyllis W. White, Executive Coordinator of the NYS Woodsmen’s Field Days, said, “We extend a huge thank you to all of the sponsors, exhibitors, campers, contestants, food concessions and wood crafters for helping to make the 65th Annual Woodsmen’s Field Days the largest in our history. A very special thanks goes out to all of our volunteers and our staff, without their dedication and many, many hours of hard work, the Field Days would not be possible. They are what makes our event such a huge success. I also extend a huge thank you to the citizens of the Village and Town of Boon-ville for their hospitality and patience with all of the traffic. Visitors to the event are constantly stopping by our office log cabin and commenting how pleasant our residents are and how they love to visit Boonville!”
The previous record for attendance was 40,237 in 2009 when activities were held two additional days, on Wednesday and Thursday, at the Fairgrounds. This year the event was three days of Woodsmen’s events. They are hoping for a big turnout next year when they will be celebrating the 66th NYS Woodsmen’s Field Days, August 16-17-18, 2013.
