Telephone Company Reunion Planned - 4/4/2011

Telephone Company Reunion Planned-4/4/2011

In October 1984 the telephone company closed the Erwin Street business office and operator divisions in Boonville. Many former employees think it is time for a reunion, so one has been planned for Saturday, May 21, at Freddy’s Diner (formerly Ted’s Dairy) on the corner of Post and Ford Street, across from the school.
A buffet lunch will be held at 1 p.m., but guests may arrive at 11:30 a.m. to begin visiting and reminiscing.
The price is $12 per person and guests are welcome! Anyone who worked for Black River, General, Citizens or Contel at any of the offices in Boonville, Lowville or Old Forge up until 1984 are invited…operators installers, repairmen, switchmen, office workers, maintenance employees or whatever other job you may have had within the company.
Reservations and money ($12 per person) are due by May 1. Make checks payable to: Sharon Gillett, 2607 Millers Woods Road, Boonville NY 13309.
Any questions or for more information, call Karen Earl at 942-5307, Sharon Gillett at 942-2312 or Joyce Hill at 348-4043.
Parking will be available in the Masonic lot next to Freddy’s. So bring your photos and stories, and hope to see you there!
