Community, Family and Fans Mourn Passing of Fritz’s Polka Band Founding Member Fred Scherz Sr.-11/17/2009
On Saturday, November 14, Fred Scherz Sr., formerly of Stokes/Boonville, and founding member of the Jagermeister-sponsored, Fritz’s Polka Band (FPB) from Verona, NY passed away after a brave battle with liver cancer.
Calling hours were Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and will also be Wednesday, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Prince, Boyd, & Hyatt Funeral Home, 210 West Court Street, Rome. Funeral services will be at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Old Oneida Road, Verona, on Thursday, November 19, at 10:30 a.m., with graveside services immediately following.
